Tata Steel aid for Jamdih village youth

JAMSHEDPUR: Jamdih village rejoiced on Monday when one of the village youth Mahesh Murmu, a SC candidate from Patamda block, qualified for the state pre-engineering entrance examination and was enrolled in RVS College of Engineering.

But the Mahesh family was financially weak. It was indeed difficult for them to pay a huge sum of Rs 72,700 for the admission. He he borrowed Rs 40,000 from fellow-villagers, his father had to sell off rice, vegetables and goats to collect the remaining Rs 32,700.

Incidentally, Tata Steel came to his aid. Not only did the company help him with a demand draft of Rs 40,000 to pay off his debt, it also promised him to pay the equivalent amount for the rest three years of his education.

Now that Tata Steel has helped me, I can carry on my education with a peaceful mind, said Mahesh.

Tata Steel is also hopeful that this assistance will surely help him to go a long way in his career.
