Uninor global GSM services launched across 7 circles pan-India

Uninor today announced the launch of its global GSM service in India. The launch will happen simultaneously in 7 circles. These include Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, UP East, UP West and Bihar (including Jharkhand). In terms of GSM footprint in a single day, this is the largest Greenfield launch operation in telecom history. On launch day, the network will cover a national footprint of close to 600 million – providing a global connection and pan-India access to the world’s largest population on day one. This is well over the population of the US, Russia and UK combined and roughly equals every 10th citizen of the world.

“With launch in 7 circles and roaming agreements in place for the rest, we have started our service in India on day one as a pan-Indian national operator – the first GSM service to have done so. This is a proud achievement of a committed and talented organisation. While our launch today is indeed a milestone in longer journey to become a significant operator in India, we are delighted to have made such a strong start,” said Stein-Erik Vellan, Managing Director, Unitech Wireless.

This is also the widest coverage any operator has ever launched with in India. For Uninor customers this means their service will be accessible much beyond a handful of cities in these states. With national roaming already tied up, the Uninor customer will be truly mobile on day one.

Uninor’s national footprint is one of several record breaking achievements of this launch. In terms of operational roll-out, this is also probably one of the fastest ever, from commencement of operations to service launch.

“It has been highly satisfying to witness today’s launch of Uninor services across India. By providing quality mobile services, I strongly believe that Uninor will bring about a significant and positive impact in the daily lives of its customers in India”, said Jon Fredrik Baksaas, CEO and President of the Telenor Group. “Establishing a mobile operation of this scale in record time is truly an impressive achievement. I am confident that Uninor will keep the same high momentum going forward to become a preferred provider of mobile services to the Indian population and a significant mobile operator in the Indian market. The Telenor Group is committed to this operation, and will back Uninor with our capabilities and vast experience from other markets to support a successful entry in India”

“The launch of Uninor mobile services marks a significant milestone for the Unitech Group – mobile services being a major diversification for the Group beyond real estate. I am confident that our long term ambitions from the business will be realized. I have full faith in the Uninor team and will like to assure them of continued support from Unitech in whichever way required,” said Sanjay Chandra, Managing Director, Unitech Ltd.

“Our model isn’t really based on outsourcing. It is based on trust. We sought core competence where it existed, brought it together and empowered it. I would like to credit this record breaking launch to the Uninor employees and the Uninor partners who have delivered on that trust,” added Vellan.

People more than numbers

“Ab mera number hai” or “My time is now” is the voice of the Uninor customer – a young individual eager to succeed. Our tagline isn’t our directive to the customer. We will not sell dreams or tell our customers what to do. They know what they want, and we are here to help them fulfil these ambitions.

”We’re breaking records in terms of footprint, speed and distribution. But more than numbers and statistics, this launch is first and foremost about individuals. Our business is about people – real life young, aspiring people whose dreams and aspirations our services will be tools to help fulfill,” said Vellan.

Uninor will not employ big celebrity brand ambassadors, but do this differently from others. The Uninor hero will be every single young achiever making it on their own grit.

“To succeed in today’s India; a brand must understand what is driving today’s India. I believe Uninor has – in recognizing its audience as the young impatient Indian in the path of success,” said Sanjay Chandra, Managing Director, Unitech Ltd.

Network – fresh and brand new

Uninor’s network is brand new with the most modern equipment and the very latest IT systems. It’s a congestion free network powered by the latest technology anyone can deploy today. For customers, this will mean superior voice quality, lower call drops, maximum first attempt dials and a much better experience overall on our network.

Over 210,000 retail points

On launch day, Uninor will be retailed at over 210,000 points of sale through close to 1000 exclusive distributors in the 7 circles. Again, the largest ever launch distribution achieved by any GSM operator in India.

This means a Uninor connection is available to customers right next door. At a supermarket, a kirana shop, a chemist, a corner mobile outlet or a full service exclusive Uninor shop; definitely at many more places and much closer than that of any other operator on launch day.

Value for money

Uninor is launching its service with two price plans – a base plan called talkmore@29p and a subscription plan called callmore@29p

Talkmore@29p is designed for customers who talk longer on their calls. The plan offers customers local calls at 29 paise per minute and STD calls at 49 paise per minute, with a call set up fee of 39 paise. Customers can now make calls at the lowest per minute local call rates in the market only on talkmore@29.

Callmore@29p, is designed for customers who call more often by offering the lowest per minute local call rates in the market. The plan offers local calls at 29 paise per minute and STD calls at 49 paise per minute, with a daily rental of Rs. 2.00.

“If you make more than 4 calls a day, you will get the best value on Uninor. If your calls are around 100 seconds or more, you will get the best value on Uninor,” said Vellan. ”One size cannot fit all. For a large number of users, current prices, including per second pricing, are in reality much more expensive than they appear. We have created plans that bring supreme value to customers based on our research on specific usage patterns,” he added.

As a long term player, Uninor’s proposition to the customer will go well beyond pricing. The quality of service, quality of customer support, easier access to our service and an overall experience that is better than what a customer experiences today will create long lasting differentiation.

“While we will certainly be competitive on delivering value for money, we believe competition must not only be on pricing. While listening closely to our customer’s wishes, our long term focus will be on quality. And we’re in this business for the long haul,” added Vellan.

Launching from the streets

In terms of the launch too, Uninor will stand out as a different kind of player, launching its service from the street, from where the customers are. Starting Friday, across the 7 circles, close to 30,000 people from within Uninor, from the Managing Director onwards to the last employee and its extended resources will celebrate the launch in the streets.

“I believe we will be reaching more people directly at our launch than any other operator in the country. Tomorrow, we are hoping to set another record in the streets”, said Vellan.

Real Estate Investors Rate Brazil France & USA for 2010

Brazil, France and the USA come out as the top three places where overseas property investors were more likely to invest in 2010. The prediction came from international real estate website Homesgofast.com who revealed the top 3 countries as part of its Top Ten Places to Buy Abroad in 2010. The top ten regions produced some surprise omissions. Gone from the top ten was Spain whilst newcomers included Malaysia, South Africa and Abu Dhabi.
The hot places to invest in real estate for 2010 were compiled by Homesgofast.com after conducting a survey of 1100 of its seasoned overseas property investors. The respondents were asked to take into consideration the following factors in deciding their top places to invest in 2010
Housing market entry prices
Potential capital growth
Types of property available
Ease of purchase for international buyers
Stability in the region
Accessibility by international travellers
The attitude of government towards overseas buyers
The survey results show that Investment Property in Brazil. France and The US showed the most potential for 2010 with Brazil in coming first place. The top ten ranking looks like this:
Homesgofast.com Top Ten Places To Invest In 2010
1.) Brazil
2.) France
3.) USA
4.) Egypt,
5.) Turkey
6.) Greek Islands
7.) Australia
8.) Malaysia
9.) South Africa
10.)Abu Dhabi

Commenting about the top 3 regions for investment s Nicholas Marr CEO Homesgofast.com said “Brazil is on every international real estate investor’s lips right now. The Olympic effect has seen investment from all over the world and entry into this market is easier with low property prices. France is not a surprise as it’s a firm favourite with UK buyers with a huge variety of property and a relatively stable housing market. The USA property market is offering armchair investors superb investments, as an example we are promoting 3 bed houses that come with a paying tenant for £15,000. Florida is a buyer’s paradise with brand luxury homes going for the price of a cramped studio apartment in the UK. Recent news from the region indicates that Florida prices have bottomed out and the only way for prices to go is up.
Homesgofast.com promotes over 200,000 international listings from property developer’s real estate agents and individuals and has been online since 2003. The website has thousands of visitors per day and a large database of international investors seeking property investments abroad

Kaplan EduNeering and Seventh Generation Introduce Sustainability Institute

Sustainability is a holistic, systems-based learning approach to living well today by employing business practices that enable future generations to live better tomorrow, said Lisa Clune, President of Kaplan EduNeering. The Kaplan EduNeering/Seventh Generation Sustainability Institute provides practical guidance and training for business practices that are responsive to the principles of sustainability and to the financial expectations of stakeholders.

There is now compelling evidence that sustainable companies enjoy a competitive advantage over organizations that continue to embrace an exclusive focus on short term profits, said Jeffrey Hollender, Executive Chairman of Seventh Generation. That business paradigm is now seen as counterproductive, not only for society and the natural world but also for company stakeholders. Organizations are beginning to understand that responsible corporate behavior has become a business imperative and that it will only become increasingly more important in the future.

Although recent studies confirm the belief among business professionals that environmental, social and governance activities create shareholder value and increase consumer loyalty, a study by MIT Sloan Management Review and Boston Consulting Group reports that only 30% of firms are implementing sustainability practices.

The Kaplan EduNeering/Seventh Generation Sustainability Institute provides:

– An online library of courses, including Sustainability 101,

Sustainable Supply Chain and Greenhouse Gas Management. Each of these modules addresses one of the essential business practices in an effective sustainability program. The Sustainability Institute courses are also a good primer for companies seeking distribution with Wal-Mart and that must adhere to Wal-Marts Sustainability Index. Kaplan EduNeering is a pioneer in online learning and has developed more than 4,000 custom courses and learning exercises for its clients and a library of 550 standardized compliance and regulatory courses.

– Ten video modules for ongoing sustainability learning, with topics ranging from Developing a Sustainability Mindset to Be Transparent. The video series includes five modules centered on sustainable business practices. Each of these modules addresses one of the essential business practices in an effective sustainability program. The videos feature Jeffrey Hollender, Seventh Generations co-founder and current Executive Chairman. As the companys Inspired Protagonist, Jeffrey has advised Fortune 500 companies and authored best-selling books including How to Make the World a Better Place: A Guide for Doing Good and What Matters Most – How a small group of pioneers are teaching social responsibility to big business – and why big business is listening. Jeffreys newest book, The Responsibility Revolution, is scheduled for publication in March 2010.

– An online toolkit called the Sustainability Communication Coach(SM) (SCC), which includes articles, brochures, mini-training modules, case studies and other resources to develop and sustain an ongoing, enterprise-wide sustainability communications program. The SCC is modeled after Kaplan EduNeerings widely used Ethics Communication Coach(SM), which now includes 2,000 tools and celebrates its ten-year anniversary in 2009.

– Optional services, including sustainability consulting, through Seventh Generations professional staff and an exam prep package for the LEEDv3 (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). A Green Associate certificate awarded by the Green Building Council can be provided by Kaplan AE Education.

The gap between recognizing the value of sustainability and achieving that value is costing businesses around the world billions of dollars in lost profits, said Lisa Clune. The Kaplan EduNeering/Seventh Generation Sustainability Institute provides the broad resources to help companies understand and achieve the tangible benefits of sustainable business practices.

Consultation launched to shape new investment in agricultural research facility

BBSRC has committed funding to the development of a farm-based research platform at North Wyke to enable scientists to understand how different approaches affect the productivity and sustainability of farming. This will include examining the environmental impact of agricultural activity within the farm environment. The new platform will be based on currently farmed land at the North Wyke research station and will involve the installation of new ditches, drainage and the latest instrumentation.

Knowledge gained from the work will inform ways that farmers can increase productivity and help to meet the growing food security challenge in a sustainable way.

Before finalising plans for the farm-based platform an open consultation has been launched. BBSRC is hoping that scientists, farmers and other key stakeholders take the opportunity to answer questions about scientific priorities, funding models and access to the facility. A number of questions to be answered are suggested by BBSRC, some of which deal with the specific scientific and technical aspects of the platform and others that are more generally focussed. BBSRC expects that respondents will answer some or all of these questions as appropriate and also welcomes feedback on any aspect of the proposal.

Prof Janet Allen, BBSRC Director of Research, said: “We need to grow more food sustainably in this country. Pressures on global food production from growing populations and changing consumption patterns mean we have no option. However, we can’t do this at the expense of the environment. To understand how farming and the environment interact, scientists need to be able to study the whole agriculture system and the most important part of this is at the farm level. The new investment will provide the UK with a significant tool to develop sustainable ways to deliver secure food supplies.

“It is important that BBSRC investments deliver results for their users and value-for-money for the UK public. This consultation will give everyone interested in this project, including scientists, farmers and the local community, the chance to have their views heard before final plans are made.”

The consultation is open now and will close on Friday December 18. For full details see: www.bbsrc.ac.uk/consultations

Canadian M&A options improving, but acquirers feel unprepared: Ernst & Young

/CNW/ – A new global Ernst & Young survey finds the stage is set for mergers and acquisitions activity to heat up, with 57% of respondents classifying the current M&A environment as favourable for their businesses.

History has shown us that the period following a downturn often polarizes markets, as some companies struggle to keep up with those moving full-steam ahead, says Aroon Sequeira, transactions partner at Ernst & Young in Edmonton. We expect Canada will be no exception, particularly with respect to oil and gas, oilfield services in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and construction in British Columbia.

But despite the number of distressed and well-priced assets, many feel restricted from realizing acquisition opportunities. Obstacles identified include valuation uncertainty and complexity (65%); insufficient financing (62%); investor caution (60%); and increased transaction risk (57%).

Were seeing businesses place an increased emphasis on capital in order to leverage these appealing but limited time prospects, says Sequeira. Those who have the organizational flexibility to adapt and respond as the market changes will be able to take advantage of opportunities – those who dont will miss them, or become targets of a takeover.

The strength of Canadas banking sector and the return of private equity is slowly starting to make financing for small and mid-size transactions more readily available. However, only 36% of businesses feel they are positioned to act quickly and exploit acquisition opportunities. This implies that a sizable portion of businesses will be able to acquire distressed assets with limited competition for at least the next six months.

Sequeira says readiness to execute in a distressed situation is key to gaining a competitive advantage. Companies should conduct ongoing proactive screening of distressed targets and establish corporate governance tailored for accelerated acquisitions. They should also look at joint venture, strategic alliance and alternative deal structures to more effectively manage scarce capital and increased risk.

On the positive side, many companies are already taking action to become more nimble. In response to scarcity of capital from traditional sources, 24% of companies looking to divest assets cite their ability to fund new investments or invest cash as the main reason for the sale.

Other survey highlights from Why capital matters include the following:

– Twenty-five percent of global businesses are likely or highly likely
to acquire in the next six months, rising to 33% in the next 12
months and up to 41% over the next 12 to 24 months.
– Forty-five percent of executives expect to see an increase in the
number of distressed asset sales in the next 12 months.
– Sixty-three percent of respondents saw the most attractive
acquisition opportunities within their own national or domestic
markets.

According to Martin Rouse, Managing Director of Ski & Trek, “We offer a range of fantastic ski clothing for men, women and children, all at great prices. Val Thorens, located in France, is Europe’s highest ski resort, and also welcomes the most international visitors; over 70% of Val Thorens’ skiers are foreign holidaymakers. Located in the French Alps the resort’s highest skiable peak, Pointe du Bouchet (3,200m) affords wonderful views of the surrounding mountain scenery.
Zermatt, situated in the Swiss Alps close to the Italian border, offers skiers guaranteed Christmas snow and a wonderfully picturesque location, great restaurants and a laid-back, relaxing atmosphere.
Solden in the Austrian Alps is one of Europe’s most well-known ski resorts, and with good reason. The resort has a fantastic party atmosphere and is the only ski destination in Austria with three mountains higher than 3,000m.
Merano 2000 is one of Italy’s most popular ski destinations. The resort is a great place to visit at Christmas thanks to its buzzing seasonal market, and also has over 40km of easily-accessible ski slopes.
Verbier is a magnet for experienced skiers, and demands a high-level of skiing expertise. It is also a popular holiday destination amongst the rich and famous, with regular visitors including Princes William and Harry, Victoria Beckham and James Blunt. Of course, this also makes the resort one of Europe’s most expensive ski destinations.

npower helps provide solar panels for two Stockton-on-Tees schools

npower has helped Bader Primary School and Ingleby Mill Primary School in Stockton-on-Tees to feel the warmth of the sun and lower energy bills this year thanks to its grant of £46,500 and the support of the Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
Bader Primary School, is home to 267 children aged between 4-11 years old and since being built in 1971 has not seen many modifications. npower has provided £10,000 of funding for a Photovoltaic (PV) system and display panel, heating control upgrade and pipe work insulation.
Ingleby Mill Primary School is a modern school with 658 pupils, npower has pledged £7,000 to the school to implement a photovoltaic (PV) system with display unit. The remaining £25,000 will fund other PV systems in local primary schools next year.
Stuart Marrow from Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, We have been working with npower for over a year and are seeing some really exciting projects taking off. The Solar panels at Bader and Ingleby Mill Primary Schools will go a long way to reducing Carbon Dioxide production and cutting energy costs as well as raising pupil awareness of the potential of renewable energy
npowers Climate Cops programme runs green-themed activities for schools right across the UK – and pupils from both Bader Primary School and Ingleby Mill Primary School have already taken part in a ’Climate Cops Academy’ – a highly interactive day about saving energy and the planet. npower undertook an energy audit in 2008, which showed that both schools were energy efficient and would benefit from alternative methods of energy production. Both schools were prime candidates to benefit from one of npower’s Climate Cops grants.
Clare McDougall, head of the Climate Cops programme, commented, Both schools in Stockton-on-Tees enjoyed the Climate Cops Academy day and were already very good on energy efficiency. We have worked with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council to look at other green energy measures, the PV systems will generate a substantial amount of hot water and electricity, making both schools amongst the greenest in the area
npower’s Climate Cops programme has committed £500,000 in energy efficiency measures for schools, 15 projects have been completed so far and – if all the measures are implemented – the participating schools would annually save a total of around £100,000 and 650 tonnes of CO2.

New partnership aims to support aspiring law students

The partnership, run in conjunction with the Sutton Trust and supported by several of the city’s law firms, aims to help Year 11 and 12 students wanting to enter the legal sector by sharing expertise and resources to deliver the ‘Pathways to Law’ scheme, an initiative designed to attract fresh talent to the sector.

The scheme targets students from state schools who will be the first in their family to attend university, and whose parents are in non-professional occupations. As part of the scheme eligible students will also be offered careers advice, guidance on university applications and mentoring at school and university. The scheme will also introduce them to contacts in the legal world, which will help lead to invaluable work experience and placements with law firms and barristers chambers.

Nigel Savage, Chief Executive of the College of Law, said: “The College is an educational charity and through the ‘Pathways to Law’ scheme, we will be working with the University of Bristol to provide opportunities for young people to work in the legal sector. We are now calling on schools and law firms from the region to work with us on the scheme.”

Professor David Clarke, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University, said: “We are delighted to be working with the College of Law to support the Sutton Trust scheme. It is important that more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are given the chance to enter the legal profession.

“The University’s Law School is one of the most successful in the UK with an international reputation for teaching and research. We hope that by sharing these resources the students will reap the benefits of this scheme.”

David Sedgwick, Chief Executive at law firm Clarke Willmott, said: “As a firm, we have excellent links with The College of Law and therefore we are pleased to support the new Bristol centre, which will nurture and encourage talent in the region. I am also passionate about providing opportunities for young people from all walks of life to enter the profession and am therefore very keen to work alongside the College on the ‘Pathways to Law’ scheme and I hope that many other firms in the region will follow suit.”

The partnership was announced at an event earlier this week to celebrate the new South West College of Law centre that is due to open in Bristol’s Temple Quarter in September 2010. The partnership includes the College of Law, the UK’s provider of professional legal education and training, the University of Bristol and the Sutton Trust. It is further supported by leading law firms such as Clarke Willmott, Bond Pearce, Osborne Clarke, Bevan Brittan LLP, Beachcroft LLP, Veale Wasbrough and Lyons Davidson.

Flash Fontanelli Music Album “FIRANGI“ Creates Havoc in Asian Community

New York, USA, November 28, 2009 ~ Indo-American Singer-Songwriter Flash Fontanelli, with his unique voice and exotic instrumentation, will officially release his debut album , FIRANGI, on November 30th, 2009.
Love him or hate him, Flash Fontanelli, the self-proclaimed Emperor of Chaos, is the most outrageous personality to ever hit the Asian music scene. Hailed by fans as being the new voice for Desi youth and denounced by critics as being a misrepresentation of Asian values, most would agree that Fontanelli is a musical mastermind. Guaranteed to take World Music to a new dimension, FIRANGI is an incredible collection of 18 innovative tracks filled with ethnic vigor, energy, and emotion. Songs include Shahrukh Khan, IRAQ, Laugh and Desire Wire to name a few.
Flash broke cultural and musical barriers, societal norms and stereotypes in a manner that was anything but traditional on his rise to fame. His music, often overshadowed by his loud personality, is unique to the point that it fits no existing genre. Flash sings in English but his music is distinctly ethnic. Combining Indian music with Hip Hop, Rock and Reggae, and using a wide array of instruments from places like Greece, Ireland, Jamaica and Egypt to name a few, Flash has created a new form of musical expression. The multi-talented Fontanelli is not only a singer, but also a composer, musician, songwriter and producer. His voice is raw, deep and husky. He has been compared to Elvis Presley and Jim Morrisson. His vocal ability is undeniably versatile. He can rap, he can sing low, high, soft, smooth or loud. And his musical formula is original. Most Flash Fontanelli songs have both a musical hook and a vocal hook.
Flash Fontanelli, born in India, migrated with his family to Liverpool, England at the age of 2. Four years later, they settled in the United States and he has since lived in New York, California, Connecticut, South Carolina, Illinois and Arizona. He was introduced to music at age 10 by skilled guitarist and family friend, Javid Hassan. By age 13, Flash had mastered the piano and was writing songs with ease. He was the songwriter and frontman for several Punk & Metal bands, including User Friendly and Skull Krusher, in his teenage years. At age 19, Flash went to his native India for what was supposed to be a one month vacation. Drawn to the culture, languages and music, he ended up staying for six months. It was in Mumbai that he met Indian Music Director & accomplished programmer Satya Narayan. Under Narayan’s tutiledge, Flash came back with a strong understanding and passion for Indian Music. After his return to the States, Fontanelli was working two jobs while singing and playing keyboard for the Bhangra influenced Reggae-Ska band, Coconut Swing. But frustrated by the politics and close-minded nature of the music industry, Flash gave up music for three years. On the insistence of his friends and family, Flash decided to give it one more go in 2008. It was then that he met Jon Weil, lead guitarist of Busticles and a professional Sound Engineer at Fuzzywallz Recording Studio in Tempe,AZ. Flash started recording with Jon at Fuzzywallz Studio and it didn’t take long for Fontanelli to grow a strong internet following, much to the credit of Akash Suresh, a professional DJ and Indian party promoter. The response from the younger generation of Desi’s living in the United States and United Kingdom was overwhelming. Fontanelli was playing shows again from California to London. The big break came in February 2009 when film director Fredy Polania heard the song Shahrukh Khan and wanted to shoot a Music Video for it. The video was launched on May 28, 2009 and became an instant hit on You Tube. This led to radio play and increased exposure, making Shahrukh Khan the ethnic party anthem of the Summer.
Flash Fontanelli has been busy the past few months, completing a 3 continent tour that saw him perform in New York, London and Mumbai to name a few places. Then Blue Mango Records came calling, in conjunction with Indian label Leit Motif Records, and offered him a recording contract. He accepted, citing creative control as the primary reason, and recorded his debut album. Firangi features work from Jon Weil, talented Indian producer Manik Satya, Bollywood playback singer Tarannum Mallik, guitar prodigy Nitesh Dean and Sound Engineer Alex Patole. The album was mastered by engineer Jerome Schmitt from Air Mastering in London, UK.

In addition to release of his music album, there is also a treat for the eyes for Flash Fontanelli fans as they get to see him in flesh. His second music video for the track “IRAQ”, directed by Thomas Jacob, was released on November 10, 2009. This video will be offered to the public under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-NoDerivs license, so that the people around the world can legally copy, distribute, and share the clip.
In a recent interview, Flash Fontanelli said: Some kids grow up wanting to be Lil Wayne. Some grow up wanting to be Jay Sean or Ozzy Osbourne. Me? I just wanted to be Flash Fontanelli. My goal is to make the most flavorful music possible in a way that no one else has ever done before. I want to introduce the world to Desi Music. And I want to introduce my Desi’s to World Music. My music may have a new sound but it relates to YOUR life. Some songs will make you happy, some will make you bounce up and down and party with your homies. Some will make you remember someone that you have lost. But in the end, If it invoked some sort of emotion in you, then I succeeded. I don’t believe in following rules. Rules are false boundaries that society created with the intention of killing innovation and progress. So f*** the rules
Music critic Chris Mark —a respected name in World Music—states, This artist is going to revolutionize music the way it’s seen and heard in the UK and USA. It’s modern World Fusion mixed with catchy hooks, witty lyrics and that signature Flash Fontanelli style. FIRANGI is an eclectic blend of powerful Bhangra beats, exotic instrumentation, Rock, Reggae and Indian Hip Hop. The only regret with this amazing journey is that it ends, leaving us wanting for more musical enchantment. This is one POWERFULL new voice

Advanced Hair Studio Baffled by ASA Shane Warne Ad Decision

Advanced Hair Studio statement following ASA overruling of their initial findings
In response to the ASA Council overturning its ‘not up held’ adjudication on an Advanced Hair Studio advertisement, Carl Howell, founder and chairman said:
“As the world’s largest international Hair Restoration Company founded in Australia, it is extremely frustrating conducting business in the UK when your advertising is approved by the local authorities, only to have them change their minds years later for no logical reason.”
“The UK Government and Advertising Authorities should look at the business model here in Australia when it comes to advertising practise as the best way to handle these approval issues.”
“It is frustrating, if not baffling, when you have followed the advice of CAP (Committee of Advertising Practice) and the ASA to get a result like this. We ensured that that particular advertisement met the code of compliance and received approval to advertise. Our advert was also approved by the ASA in its first adjudication.”
“This process, initiated by one unidentified complainant, has taken over two years to resolve and the initial decision in our favour was overturned without any further arguments presented against us.”
“We were even upheld for using a word to describe a product that CAP also used on its own website. This ruling by the ASA is all a matter of semantics over the words ‘approved’, ‘cleared’ or alternatively’.”
“What is not in doubt is that the US Food and Drug Administration recognise that the laser device we use in our AHS-FP programme stimulates hair growth in men suffering from male pattern baldness.”
“This is not the first time that our advertisement has been approved, only to be ruled against by the same body later. What is an advertiser to do?”
“Regardless, we will continue to consult with CAP and the ASA as Advanced Hair Studio’s programmes and procedures provide a range of very successful solutions for people suffering from hair loss. Our business has been running for over 35 years and we have hundreds of thousands of satisfied clients worldwide.”

Animal crowns UK Pro Surf Tour Champions

The Animal team cleaned up the top spots of the UK Pro Surf tour at the final decider event in Newquay at the weekend. Alan Stokes claimed the overall men’s open tour title and Gwen Spurlock became overall women’s open tour champion too. This is a great finish for Gwen who has taken home the Welsh Junior and British Junior titles already this year.
The Animal Newquay open was the final stop of the gruelling six round tour that took the cream of UK surfers round the UK best breaks. After the stormy conditions provided by Mother Nature on day one, meaning the event was moved to Towan beach, the competition returned to Fistral. Day two saw a challenging chunky 6ft swell and a strong cross-shore SSW wind testing competitors. Each heat of the day was watched closely by the onlookers to find out who would win overall.

The weekend started with Stokesy holding a slender lead but with six surfers all in with a chance of taking the men’s Pro open tour title. As the heats progressed the contenders were eliminated leaving Newquay surfers Tom Butler and Alan Stokes as the last challengers remaining in the semi finals. Stokesy won his semi but Tom was unable to find the best waves and 3rd place kept him out of the final and handed the victory to Stokes.
Stokesy commented, It means so much to take this title, it’s the hardest UK title to win as the championship is contested over 5 events. These new chargers like Tom Butler and Reubyn Ash pushed me all the way and made it an anxious but fantastic final event
In the Women’s event strong performances were put on by Zoe Sheath and Gabi Rowe. This wasn’t enough to take the overall title from Gwen Spurlock who won the overall UK Pro Surf Tour Women’s event thirty points ahead of the pack. Gwen’s story is one of a true champion, after winning the junior tour in 2007 a serious head injury kept her from the water in 2008. Now sporting a helmet Gwen has not only returned, but won the tour title.
On finding out she’d won the tour Gwen said, Boom. I’m amazing She was pretty stoked that she had won the title.

Animal Sponsorship manager Steve Kitchin said, We are really proud to have two such outstanding surfers on the team, and to have a double win at the Animal Newquay Open is the icing on top. The champagne will be flowing at Animal Towers tonight
Stokesy and Gwen now have a bit of time off to celebrate their wins before starting on their winter training schedules.

Deutsche Börse connects 100th participant to Proximity Services

Algotraders benefit from low latency / Total of more than 1,000 logical network connections
Deutsche Börse: 100 Eurex and Xetra participants, vendors and service providers already use the two Proximity data centers in Frankfurt, benefiting from the low latency and the high bandwidth of the Enhanced Broadcast Solution and Enhanced Transaction Solution interfaces. Another five customers are soon to be connected.
This confirms Deutsche Börse Group’s irrefutable role as leading European exchange in this field and highlights its attractiveness for trading houses that pursue latency-sensitive algorithmic trading strategies said Matthias Kluber, Executive Vice President and Head of Networks and Infrastructure at Deutsche Börse Systems. Since the launch of the first Proximity data center in 2006, we have experienced continuous growth in demand for low-latency locations from our trading participants, despite the deepening economic crisis. For us, this is the result of constantly optimizing not only our own infrastructure but also the range of additional proximity and low latency trading services we offer
For example, Deutsche Börse Group has made it possible to transmit private newsfeeds unencrypted via the Enhanced Transaction Solution interface, thereby saving more time. This communication channel is safeguarded by way of additional technical features such as infrared surveillance systems and armored conduit for cable ducts. Since August 2009, a new 10GBit/s backbone data line has also been in place between London and Frankfurt, setting new standards with its network latency of under five milliseconds.
New Proximity participants can initially test the new services with their algorithms and trading engines under the Proximity Tryout scheme – which features 100 percent realistic conditions in terms of latency and data throughput. Teams and services from Customer Technical Support and ExServes will be available to help. In order to manage its permanent proximity installations securely and cost-effectively in the long term, Deutsche Börse Systems offers fast and reliable management links via its worldwide network.
We will continue to meet the high demands many customers place on our trading infrastructure in terms of latency, performance and implementing technological progress in the future commented Matthias Kluber. And our IT security and availability standards will remain high
The Eurex and Xetra members that use Deutsche Börse Group’s Proximity Services come from all over the world. Eleven different countries are represented, including Germany, the UK, the US, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong and Singapore. The participants include international universal banks, renowned hedge funds and highly specialized algotraders. 21 percent of all Eurex and 18 percent of all Xetra members already use a Proximity data center.

CSC expand their European network yet further

Co. Armagh, United Kingdom (Nov 13 2009) – CSC, the company behind leading provider of fuel cards for the UK and across Europe, fuelcards.com, have expanded their already wide European network yet further with the addition of 15 new G & V truck stations in Belgium.

Already a leading independent provider of petrol and diesel cards across Ireland and Europe, CSC have further cemented their position as an elite provider of fleet cards and fuel at low prices with the addition of 15 G & V stations in Belgium, to further enhance the accessibility of fuel to their customers on the continent.

With each facility offering 24-hour access, the move to integrate the new stations into the network further increases the comprehensive service that CSC provide to customers across Ireland and Europe. A truly pan-European company, the addition of the new G & V stations means that CSC’c customers can now purchase fuel on their cards in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Luxembourg.

“This was a natural progression for us,” says Craig Anderson of CSC. “We have grown our own independent fuel cards from about 30 sites in Ireland to become a pan-European fuel card. Unlike other fuel card companies which, in reality, are just third party agents, our customers will now obtain fantastic prices throughout Europe as we don’t have to add any administration fees as others may have to.”

To find out more about CSC’s expanding network of fuelling stations and their fuel card services, go to www.fuelcards.com or ring 02838 842832.
