Deloitte U.S. Issues Fiscal Year 2009 Corporate Responsibility Report

To view the complete interactive online report, please visit: www.deloitte.com/us/2009CRReport

Its in tough times that we see what really matters to people and organizations, and in fiscal 2009 this certainly proved to be the case for Deloitte and corporate responsibility, said Barry Salzberg, chief executive officer, Deloitte LLP. Even in a downturn, corporate responsibility is a strategic imperative, critical to our people and our clients. Whatever the economic climate, we will keep our eyes on what matters and not lose momentum in this important area.

During the second year of our formal corporate responsibility program, we have moved on to the task of permanently embedding CR into the fabric of our organization, added Tom Dekar, corporate responsibility officer, Deloitte LLP. Now that we have comprehensive participation in strong CR programs internally, one of our greatest opportunities is to share our learning with our communities, stakeholders and clients.

Select highlights from Deloittes fiscal year 2009 corporate responsibility program include:

Deloitte continued to execute on its commitment to provide up to $50 million in pro bono services to eligible non-profits, with more than 100 projects completed or underway in communities nationwide. This year also marked the 10th annual IMPACT Day, Deloittes national day of service. On this day, more than 32,000 Deloitte personnel across the country set aside their work to volunteer on 800 projects in 252 communities.

On the FORTUNE° 100 Best Places to Work list Deloitte jumped 34 spots over the prior year and BusinessWeek again named Deloitte to the top spot on its Best Places to Launch a Career list for the second time in three years. Deloitte was also inducted into halls of fame by both Training magazine and Working Mother magazine.

Chairman Sharon Allen commissioned the third annual Deloitte LLP Ethics & Workplace survey, which examined how employees and executives view the potential reputational risks associated with social networking. The study showed a surprising disconnect between the two audiences as 53 percent of employees say that what is on their social networking pages is none of an employers concern, while 66 percent of executives believe they have the right to know how employees are portraying themselves and their organizations online.

Deloitte established a Green Leadership Council representing all of the regions of the organization; established the U.S. firms carbon footprint baseline and the measurement of carbon performance for fiscal year 2009; continued to implement a robust Green IT program and established LEED design criteria for all new and refurbished office space, including Deloitte University which is expected to be operative in 2011. Deloitte expects to announce its carbon baseline and carbon reduction targets during fiscal year 2010.

Revenue generated by Deloittes Enterprise Sustainability Group exceeded projections by more than 50 percent. The Enterprise Sustainability Group is comprised of more than 500 practitioners delivering services in the areas of CR and sustainability strategy, CR and sustainability reporting, energy investment, climate change and sustainability risk management, health and safety, CR organization and development, green IT, green supply chain, and many other related services.
