West Bengal a state noted for its scenic beauty, cultural legacy and age-old history abounds in fairs and festivities. Poush Mela is one such gala fair, held in that depicts the quintessential Bengali culture. The fair is Poush, near about the time when the present year is bid farewell and preparations are made to welcome the New Year, with its new hopes and new promises.

Radio Misty Partners with International Film Festival

siliguri, west bengal, November 18, 2009 /India PRwire/ — Radio Misty 94.3 fm, the first and Number One Fm station Of North Bengal have partnered with 10th Siliguri International Film Festival. Cine enthusiasts in North Bengal can look forward to a weeklong feast for the senses when the 10th Siliguri International Film Festival begins on November 19.Eighteen foreign films, along with an Indian film, will be screened at Dinabandhu Mancha here during the seven-day fest, which will end on November 25.

Eminent director Tarun Majumdar will inaugurate the festival. Actress Rituparna Sengupta will also be present on the occasion, Said Asok Bhattacharya, the urban development minister and the chief patron of the Siliguri Cine Society, which is organising the festival along with the state information and culture department.

Documentary films based on environment, wildlife and other burning issues of the contemporary age will be shown during the festival. Apart from the 19 films, Madhumati and Do Bigha Amen, directed by Bimal Roy, will also be screened at Ramkinkar Hall during the event. There will be an essay competition for the college students of Siliguri during the fest. The themes have been circulated among all the colleges here. Five best essays, in each language, will be awarded during the festival. Viewers will also get to participate in a quiz contest. The questionnaires will be provided with the tickets.

Radio Misty partners with Goenkan Splash – the Art Fest

Radio Misty 94.3 fm, the First and Number one fm station of North Bengal have partnered with G D Goneka public school, Siliguri for Goenkan splash-the art fest on 15th November .This is the one the biggest art fest in the region. This is endeavour to evoke a sense of joy and appreciation for young budding artists.

In a bid to encourage the young participants school has kept attractive prizes for the competition such as laptops, P.Cs, Digital camera, books, bicycles.. Participation certificates shall be awarded to all the participants. Teachers, Parents or Guardians who accompany the children are also welcome to be fruitfully engaged in an array of activities which will bring to them a fiesta of sight, sound and smell.
