The Opening Plenary will be a session on Role of HR in Corporate Governance. HR’s role has often been seen as peripheral when it comes to corporate governance. It examines its role and investigates how HR can make a meaningful and more strategic contribution to corporate governance within organizations. Now that the dust has settled from the corporate governance crises of the past few years, government and business have had some time to try and address the underlying problems that often lead to corporate governance problems. Corporate governance requirements can often be satisfied when it comes to the letter of the law, but the spirit of the law is another matter altogether. Much has been said and written about cultural change of late. After the corporate governance disasters of companies a strong correlation was found between a failure to embrace the spirit of corporate governance and deep-seated organizational culture problems. The esteemed leaders of HR industry will discuss that How HR can play the key role in maintaining the corporate governance in this highly competitive Global arena.
The Closing Plenary will be a session on Human Resource Outsourcing – a Competitive Advantage? Outsourcing is a key topic of debate in most human resources (HR) departments. As HR functions look to reduce costs, introduce employee self- service and reduce administration activity, they are taking a hard look at their outsourcing options. The outsourcing debate has been heightened over the last couple of years. By outsourcing a company can focus on its core competencies while retaining its competitive advantage. However a company must also consider the disadvantages of outsourcing. There are risks that need to be analyzed whenever a company embarks on a new business venture. Even though outsourcing is often the right solution for companies, one should not outsource simply for the sake of outsourcing.
