Party for Humanity raises over $20,000

/CNW/ – On Friday, November 13, 2009, members of the development and building industry raised over $20,000 in support of Habitat for Humanity Toronto, the Building Industry & Land Development Association (BILD) announced today.

Formerly known as the Presidents Gala – a formal dinner to mark the end of the Associations Presidents annual term – the event was completely reinvented this year as the Party for Humanity held at the Fermenting Cellar in Torontos Distillery District.

The event, which invited guests to attend in casual wear – a rarity for the industry – showcased an array of food stations, drinks, dancing and a live band. The fundraiser was held in the form of ticket sales, raffles and a silent auction. Proceeds will be put towards Habitat for Humanity Torontos efforts to build affordable housing for low-income families.

It was an evening that will stand out in my memory for quite some time – at least until we do it again next year, said BILD President and CEO Stephen Dupuis. Id like to thank the hundreds of guests who donated to Habitat for Humanity Toronto by attending the party and taking part in the raffle and silent auction. What a terrific turnout! Thank you!

With more than 1,400 members, BILD, formed through the merger of the Greater Toronto Home Builders Association and Urban Development Institute/Ontario, is the voice of the land development, home building and professional renovation industry in the Greater Toronto Area. BILD is proudly affiliated with the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders Associations.
