January 12, 2011 /India PRwire/ — Ministry of Health, Govt. of Rajasthan, National Rural Health Mission (Rajasthan) and Ziqitza Healthcare limited launched 108 Ambulance fleet fitted with GPS-Devices across Rajasthan. This State of the art technology, GPS Device was launched by Mr. A A Khan, Hon’ble Minister, Medical & Health, Govt. of Rajasthan. On this occasion Hon’ble Minister, Medical and Health also flagged off 23 new 108 Ambulances. Dr. Rajkumar Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of State, Medical and Health, Govt. of Rajasthan, Mr. B.N.Sharma , Principal Health Secretary, Dr. Preetam B Yashvant Mission Director, NRHM and distinguished guests were also present on this occasion.

Addressing on the occasion, Ms. Sweta Mangal, CEO, Ziqitza Healthcare ltd said, ” By adopting the revolutionary technology we are confident that we would be able to better our response time and save more lives in Rajasthan”. We are thankful to Govt. of Rajasthan and NRHM for supporting us to launch this new technology in Rajasthan.

Earlier , the call dispatching was a Manual Process, wherein when a call was received by the Call Center , the Call Taker relied on manual data to find out the nearest available ambulance. The Manual process involved the call taker / call dispatcher calling a few ambulances in the given area to find out their availability and then providing the patient information on the phone to the closest available Ambulance. This made the whole process very time consuming. By Introduction of GPS Devices, Ambulances Position is tracked by GPS-Satellites and is available to Control Room in Real-Time. So, when caller calls 108 the nearest ambulance is identified automatically. Also, the system sends messages directly on both Driver’s mobile phone and on the device so that time is saved.

Traffic Jam/ Breakdown/SOS message can also be sent from this device as and when required. In addition to this in case of any emergency alert or broadcast message from control room can be sent to multiple Ambulances. Presently there are 166 Ambulances deployed at both rural and urban areas in Rajasthan and are available 24X7 for any kind of emergency. With adding 23 new 108 Ambulance, the number of these ambulances will reach to 189.
